6 Women Who Keep Me Checking Twitter (X) Daily
In January this year, I decided to reduce my usage of social media platforms and…Oops, forgive my manners…
Hey there! It’s been a while. How are you doing? I hope this year has been amazing as well. It’s been a while since I penned something down here; I got swamped this year. And it has not been easy coming back to writing. But yeah, putting this out means I’m getting back on my feet now. It sure feels good to be back.
Alright, back to my story…
My Addiction to Twitter (X)
In 2022, I discovered that the amount of time and data I use on some social media platforms is alarming! I don’t blame myself; social media can be such a fun addiction.
Interestingly, there is this particular platform that I just couldn’t stay away from (erm, apart from LinkedIn, though, I still believe LinkedIn is too important to be considered just a social media platform…Lol). As I said, not checking this platform feels like my day isn’t complete. Can you guess the platform? Yep! Exactly what’s in your mind-Twitter or X!
See ehn… it’s not like I got stuck on Twitter because of the gbas gbos vawulence always happening there. It’s because I discovered some accounts, and engaging content from those accounts helps make my day.
In this piece, I’ll list out six of those accounts and why they keep me checking Twitter daily. I hope you find this interesting.
6 Women who Keep me on Twitter (X) Daily
1. Renike
One fun activity I love to be engaged in is drawing, so when I see artists who are fully passionate about this, I admire them. Renike is one of the most talented female artists in Nigeria. She creates beautiful illustrations.
Although I am a pencil artist and not a digital illustrator like herself, she makes me want to consider going into painting. Checking out her page brightens my day cause she has so many colourful illustrations uploaded on her media.
2. Kate Henshaw
Kate is my definition of a happy, lively, confident, and strong woman. She is a Nigerian Actress, Fitness Instructor, and Activist. Aside from being one of the best in her field, she also manages to keep Twitter lively with her ever-fun and motivating content.
In my opinion, she’s one of the most loved female Nigerian celebrities on Twitter. If you scroll through her timeline, you’ll see different forms of organic posts from her followers, appreciating her for being who she is. Even though I don’t like working out, Kate has indirectly influenced me to do one or two workouts daily.
P.S. She’s a sapiosexual; avoid her page if you don’t like intelligent conversations.
3. Tosin Olaseinde
Growing up, I didn’t like math; it gave me a real headache back in secondary school, and I was even lucky enough to have a C in my WAEC. So, eventually, when I started working, I avoided anything accounting-related like a plague. But you see this woman here, Tosin Olaseinde, she has managed to seduce me to like finance with her ever-simplified explanation of finance and investment.
Tosin is the founder and CEO of two tech companies, Money Africa and Ladda. Her companies focus on financial literacy and helping Africans sustainably grow money through savings and investment. So, it’s unsurprising that she reflects her brand’s mission in her posts on Twitter.
Through Tosin, I now understand how to budget and different types of investment to venture into. If you find saving money difficult or need to learn how investing works, I strongly recommend you follow this brilliant lady.
4. Hauwa
When I get overwhelmed and need to clear my head, I often go through Hauwa’s tweets cause this young lady is just a ‘case.’
In creating funny and crazy stories about events Lagosians and Nigerians can relate to, Hauwa is the best person for the job. She is a screenwriter, Digital Content Writer and Creator of ‘Hauwa’s Mad House’ Comic.
Hauwa is popular for sharing stories about her weird encounters with people (both real and in her vivid imagination…Lol), Hauwa is a character!
One thing I make sure to do is NOT to watch her content in public cause she can make you laugh out really loud. She’s incredibly talented and knows how to put out captivating content in the most creative ways.
5. Sisi Nerd
Whenever I see a post from Confidence Staveley, a.k.a Sisi Nerd, I am always inspired. She’s not only a cybersecurity expert who has influenced other African women to go into the field, but she’s also the most celebrated cybersecurity female in Africa! That’s a huge achievement, and I consider it an honour to have known this genius.
Sisi Nerd gives back to Africa through the Cybersafe Foundation, where she equips young girls with the right skills and resources to kick-start a career in cybersecurity.
Sisi Nerd influenced me to the extent that I took a course on the basics of Cybersecurity in June (a special shoutout to I4G for offering me the scholarship to take this course).
If you are looking at growing a sustainable career as a woman or want to find out how to navigate your way into the cybersecurity space, kindly follow Sisi Nerd, and trust me when I say you will get a lot of value from her page.
6. Dr. Ola Brown, MFR
The world could be ending, and Dr. Ola Brown would still be tweeting about investment, startup fundraising, world data, and how she’s a Comrade planning to overthrow the Ikoyi Bourgeois…Lol (IYKYK).
Dr Ola Brown is a medical doctor, founder of HealthCapAfrica, and Director at GreenTree and FlyingDoctor. One unique thing about Dr. Ola Brown is her simplicity despite attaining so many professional feats.
She earned the nickname ‘Mummy G.O’ on Twitter because she dresses simple. I also love how she makes investment and statistics look cool.
Wrapping it Up
Whew! Just realised I have put down a lot of words, and to think I planned to put out a content of 600 words max. Now I have over 1k words, I’m such a talkative *Sigh and nod my head in Aseju (in Hauwa’s voice).*
So, I’d also like to hear from you; what do you think about this piece? Do you follow these women on Twitter, too? Are there other Twitter accounts you can recommend for me to follow?
I’ll be waiting for your feedback in the comment section. Thank you so much for taking the time out to read till this point.
